There are lots of them but this is the one I use.
Gentibus CD enables you to scan your removable drives or photo CDs and store thumbnail images of the pictures on your PC. The software offers special browsers to consult your disks easily by file types (video, mp3, image, program, ...), as well as extensive search functionality to quickly locate any kind of file.

Thanks Gramps. This can make filing photos on CDs worthwhile again.
I haven't backed up to CD so long for this very problem. Looks like problem solved.
Hope it works with Blu-Ray too :)

I burned a DVD with 2,000+ photos then made a Gentibus catalog of it.
The program worked fast and the file of thumbnails was only 38MB.
I can check the catalog for the image files without having to load the disk. Very handy.
