Vintage-looking pictures are all the rage right now. But how can you get them without using the Instagram app on your smartphone?

Until now, you either needed old cameras and film or powerful photo editing software. Pixlr-o-matic, a standalone feature of popular online photo editor Pixlr, has changed all that.

It's a free download that installs quickly and is extremely easy to use. You can either use your webcam or digital photos you've saved on your computer.

Apply filters, lighting and borders in hundreds of combinations. Pixlr-o-matic will prompt you to install Adobe AIR framework. Go ahead, it's safe.
