What are you celebrating today?

1. weirdvis5 March 2011, 9:46 GMT +01:00

Always a popular thread at the other place.

I'll kick this one off.

It was my birthday the other day. I was expecting a bottle of my favourite perfume (I've been dropping hints I was running low) and woke up to a Land Rover Freelander on the drive. I've always wanted a 4x4 and now I've finally got one courtesy of my Mum and my Significant Other Half.

Okay, so it's not a new one and it's not an all singing, all dancing model, but that doesn't bother me. It's a freaking Freelander, dudes!

Mine's a white soft top like the one in the foreground.

Downside - I'll have to fund my own bottle of smellies. Oh hold on - there's Mother's Day coming up...

....and today I am celebrating that my publisher just told me that they will paperprint my book about HDR photography :-) That is really nice instead of "just" an e-book.

243. StariSob3 February 2012, 13:39 GMT +01:00

That is indeed nice news! Congratz!

244. crisderaud3 February 2012, 14:41 GMT +01:00

Great news John! Books on photography and art are meant to be held in your hand so you can flip through them.

245. johnnyberg4 February 2012, 9:08 GMT +01:00

Thank you :-)

I totally agree. I also like to have a book to flip through while working, and more important: a book to read while sitting/laying in bed ;-)

The publisher has already accepted my next book - and I really hope that will come in paper too.

246. xymonau4 February 2012, 10:44 GMT +01:00

That's so exciting! Well done, John!

247. Groningen5 February 2012, 21:06 GMT +01:00

congratulations johnnyberg, hope you're book is going to sell!

248. lennie6 February 2012, 12:25 GMT +01:00

Congratulations John, I wish it was written in a language I can understand so I can buy it. :-)

249. johnnyberg6 February 2012, 21:28 GMT +01:00

Thank you all.
I hope the book will sell too - that would be very nice endeed.
248: for the moment it will only be in danish; but I will try to get the book aobut holiday photography written/translated. I think the idea is good and the costumers are out there :-)

250. micromoth11 February 2012, 16:26 GMT +01:00

Yay! Just passed 10,000 downloads. And Michael & Christa will probably be next.

251. xymonau12 February 2012, 1:47 GMT +01:00

Congratulations, Kevin! A significant milestone, and deservedly so.

252. crisderaud12 February 2012, 3:28 GMT +01:00

Finished my second box.

253. xymonau12 February 2012, 4:54 GMT +01:00

Have you got any photos, Cris?

254. crisderaud12 February 2012, 6:13 GMT +01:00

I have one in queue of my wood plane on the work bench. It took me forever to fine hone the machined surfaces of that plane so it cuts as smooth as a straight razor.

255. micromoth12 February 2012, 8:14 GMT +01:00

Wow, sounds like you're quite an intrepid carpenter! Look forward to seeing the photos.

256. crisderaud12 February 2012, 13:30 GMT +01:00

My photo got rejected for the proper reasons. I tried to do it on the fly, but I really need to set up a proper shot with lighting and a white backdrop.

257. xymonau12 February 2012, 14:04 GMT +01:00

We could stage a mass walk-out until your photo is displayed if you want. LOL

258. Ayla8712 February 2012, 14:13 GMT +01:00

Or we all upload something white on white backdrops. There is still some snow outside available here LOL

259. crisderaud12 February 2012, 14:59 GMT +01:00

I posted it on Facebook.

I need just a couple more items for a proper setup that I can move about the house. Getting a ride to the store is the hard part.

260. charcoal13 February 2012, 12:47 GMT +01:00

Well this put a smile on my face just now. Getting my map image on the RGB home page ;) Very unexpected.

Special thanks to Dez for the suggestion!

261. micromoth13 February 2012, 14:25 GMT +01:00

@260 It's a great image Michael; very well deserved.

Here are two boxes that are drying with the final coat of tung oil. The yellow one is my Wi-Fi router elevator for better signal strength. The brown one is my nightstand alarm clock lift so I can see it easier.

They look really professional, Cris.

What we are celebrating today is that we expect our 10K downloads :)

It's a magical milsetone Kevin. Here's to the next one!

You're there, Michal. Right on the big ten thou! :D

Cris, that's lovely work.

265. crisderaud16 February 2012, 1:33 GMT +01:00
