Presumably because of a complaint from one of the users/uploaders, some of the topics in the SXC general chat forum have been locked with something like
"As this has long deviated from the original intent:
"5...
or more...
or less..."
it is being closed."
Remind me, someone, just what harm these threads were doing. I'm afraid it's slipped my mind.

And what is really annoying is that Mikey Aperture won the LOTPW thread - but only by default.
I'll bet we never hear the end of it though.

OK I have a thought, they don't happen too often, Who gives a F*** what SXC are up to..... This is the place to concentrate on..... RGB is an interesting and sane place to visit and contribute to, Oh there goes my grammar again....

@23 I think the way sxc works is most downloaded pages are refreshed around midnight so images belonging to Dez will stay 'till then... (?)
& if you do click a thumbnail they don't come up large - "No such image" shows. No worries.

Yes things are looking up! We haven't lost our focus on what is going on here at home. The happenings over there are unprecedented and we have used this thread to point them out.

I haven't quite finished, but I will eventually. I can still search on a keyword and a whole page of thumbnails appears. I click on the thumbnails and the larger thumbnail comes up. They want to ban me, they remove my images at once, or pay rent. I have already informed them of this. So far they owe me a lot of money.

The truth is that Getty paid chickenfeed - compared to it's yearly profits - for sxc. It was worth the money to them to either buy and use it, or shut it down, because large corporations are as much about manipulation and controlling society as they are about profit. The free use of the internet and free exchange of information and ideas, not to mention software, etc, is a thorn in the flesh of those who control most of the media for their propaganda. It's now the only place you can find anything true. Don't bother reading your newspapers. Nothing gets in to them that is not allowed. Twenty years ago it was better, but it has always been true to a large degree. Anyway, they genuinely don't care if it closes. If it becomes too much trouble, or if it ceases to drive traffic to iStock, it will close, and everyone from Getty will say "good riddance". At this point, so will I, because the place has become a desert.

Dez I search on sxc for "xymonau" and I get 413 images (still showing at 8.30am aussie time) but only 290 here on RGB. Where are the rest? Have you copies? Will they be seen here?

Deb, I don't have my name on all the images. Go to "Photographers" in the blue bar at the top of the page. Click, and sort by alphabet. You'll find me. I have 982 images on sxc, and over a thousand here.
Can you download the larger images on sxc?

no, if I click on the thumbnail it says error, No such photo.
