halt

when you are tired, this is always a wise decision.

Your son is a grown man already, even if you will always see him as a child. My Mom is 87 already, I was a late child. But I dont have any brothers or sisters. There was a sister of mine (Karin) who lived for a few days only. I should not be too sad about this, because my father never wanted too many children. So if Karin had survived I think I wouldnt be here to write for lettered words.

It is amazing that wheather can be so different around the world. Even more so because we live all on the same planet, and he is rotating so fast that wheather conditions should be evened out a lot. IÄm quite lucky that we dont get too much of the power of the sun. I cant bear heat very well.

I couldnt really tell you if we have seasons which are more or less dry than others. The number of rainy days vary quite a lot. It is well possible that I may be reacting to the barometric pressure. I dont feel this directly in any way, but it may be an answer to the question why I have less migraine during the summers.

This table tells us that average rain masses do not vary a lot over the seasons in Berlin

https://translate.google.de/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&u=https://www.reise-klima.de/klima/berlin&edit-text=

In Brisbane this looks really different

I dont take extra vitamin D. Christa has made a blood test for this vitamin level last week, we are still waiting for the results. Maybe she gets even less sun than I do. From what you tell we are lucky that we dont have fortified milk over here. A good taste of milk is important to me. My favourite milk is one based on spelt, and it is also spiced with almond. This Speltdrink with almonds is organic and vegan, and it is also lactose free (even though I dont react to lactose). It even has less calories than milk and tastes just fantastic. I also use this milk for my daily breakfast muesli.

My favourite part of Germany is called ore mountains, the German word for it is Erzgebirge.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ore_Mountains

The mountains there are not too high, but the landscape is very varied. I also like the accent of the saxons there a lot, to me it sounds cosy and the people I have met there were always friendly. In Freiberg

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freiberg

I visited an ore mine there where I took part in an expert tour and crawled through deep and narrow pits far under the earth for several hours. You would find this terrible when you are claustrophobic, but for me it was an adventure I will never forget.

https://translate.google.de/translate?hl=de&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://www.besucherbergwerk-freiberg.de/fuehrungen/&sandbox=1

When I was still a youngster I visited the Balearic Islands. I think this was my farthest trip so far. Im not too keen on flying long distances. In those cramped planes I feel uncomfortable, I dont know where to put my long legs. Of those islands I visited Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, where they still have active vulcanos which I found fascinating. My favourite travel destination will always be London, because I find this to be a very atmospheric city and there are lots of things you can do to have a good time. My

last

trip there is now already so many years away because I dont travel anymore because of the possible heavy migraine attacks which would spoil any vacation.

Thanks for asking, Dez. My head has been good for a month now, that is the good news. The bad news is that this means its about time to expect the next attack every day now. Summer is gernerally a time with lesser migraine, and I couldnt tell you why this is so. Maybe the longer hours of sunshine help somehow, even though I dont like to stay in the sun too long.

In the change of seasons it is a bit more difficult to properly decide how you should dress yourself. The difference between cold mornings and warmer day temperature is quite high. There are no

laws

to guarantee that everybods gets the wheather he or she prefers.

To sleep well is important, too. We spend a huge lot of our lifetime sleeping to recreate and powerfully manage the hours of our life in which we

awake. And then, of course, to eat tasty things is a great way to spend your day.

Yes, it is dark brown and I suppose it is thje same as your golden syrup.

Lady,

I cant imagine you to look like a barrel of lard. But I must admit, organic sugar (we use organic sugar beet syrup, of course) wont have less calories. Only less pesticides, which makes it a little bit healthier even if you cant stop to eat more and more of it.

beetroot is quite common, but maybe younger people dont learn how to prepare it anymore. It can be eaten cold and fresh (where you have to wear gloves when you prepare it), but it is mostly cooked for 30 to 60 minutes and then peeled after cooking. Yes, we have the deep puirple variety only.

sugar beets can be cooked or fried, we find many recipes when we google preparation sugar beet. But I think the still most common use is the delicious sugar beet syrup. This is an excellent topping, e.g. for Christas pumpkin pancakes. These will always

land

in your stomach at faster than light speed.

I dont like the taste of beetroot, so such a kind of diet would be

hard

to me. But I agree, the way we cook our food has great influence on how healthy the meal gets. Fast food is unnecessarily stuffed with lots of fat, salt and sugar. Surely a fast way to ruin your health. The bad news is that we are all victims of our education. When we get used to the specific taste of fast food it is often hard to resist and be good instead. So I can count me lucky that Christa cooks slow food, even when it is so tasty that I eat it much too fast.

Yes, it is slowly getting warmer over here. The Syringa bush and our Hortensia plants on Mimis Terrace grow so fast now that you can almost look at it.

As far as Im concerned you can continue to rant till the

rain

stops you. It is always nice to hear what you have to say. The big American chains are not very flexible as far as healty food is concerned. This luckily costs them more and more customers. The chains are - like the pubs your Dad visited - only interested in increasing their profit. Salty snacks and food let you get thirsty and you will drink more, its as simple as that. You wont die from it, but you will loose more money.

Gesine, Christa and I are fond of Currywurst, too. Luckily we get organic Currywurst from happy animals. I dont have to be a cop to like them, not even a

star.

The quality and range of take away food differs a lot between the countries. I have the impression that in England you get many more fresh and often healthier sandwhiches than here - a thing to make us envious.

Oh, I like barbecue sauce, too. I could take

pots

of it to bath in, and it goes well with chicken meals. Chicken Döner is my favourite version, the flesh is not so heavy and I have the feeling that it is a little bit healthier.

Most shops toast the bread for Döners to make it warm and crisp before they fill it. That is really nice.

Falafel can also be very tasty because of the spices, but sometimes I find it a little bit dry like powder in my mouth.

We have seen a lot of good food places come and go during the years. Im afraid it is a sign that we are getting older.

It is very caring of you that you share your delicacies with the lorikeets. When you arrive in heaven one far day this may well reserve you eternal supply with delicate treats waiting for you.

The kebaps here are called Döner Kebap (or just Döner), and here is a description:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doner_kebab

I like them especially with hot sauce. Garlic sauce is also very common, but the strong garlic taste lasts very long, I dont like that.

You are lucky that Donuts are available with a lot of cinnamon. I love cinnamon.

We have also a lot of swedish cinnamon rolls in varying taste and quality available at a lot of stores, and they are very tasty.

Here your doctors often even dont ask if you have been examined recently. They dont trust the findings of other doctors, and - even more important - they want to earn the money for another examination themselfs, even if it has been done already.

Thats right. In some areas the way we handle things is far too complex to be efficient. One

part

often doesnt know what the other is doing. So things are done twice parallel (and everyone wants to get paid for it). That goes for medical examinations as well, because the results are not shared by all the doctors who treat you.

Its good to know that we have some spare muscles as a reserve. But I would agree, Evolution is going too slow for us. This may well be the reason why mankind will die out (not before we have ruined this planet, of course, which wont take very long. We are good at it.).

There are some predictions that insects will still live on Earth when humans are a thing of the

past.

I prefer to look at prices not too accurately so that I wont lose my happyness. But I have the impression that we are lucky over here - the price difference is not that great. Margarine costs three or four times as much, but the average price difference tells us that organic products cost only nearly twice as much as conventional food here. Organic food is sometimes cheaper than conventional branded articles because the owners of those brands let us pay quite a lot for their well-known names (and for the effort they invest in commercialsto promote it). I think the extra money for organic food is always a good investment, and the farmers deserve to get paid more for their healthier products.

You are a very creative and talented lady.

I try to move not too much

most

of the time, my office is not very large. But during my lunch break I have a chance to walk around in the nearby area. I can watch things grow in the nearby allotment gardens or do some shopping so that my purse wont be too heavy. We prefer to buy organic things, of course. There is an organic supermarket within reach. Luckily the normal supermarkets offer more and more organic food, too. 4,4 percent of all the food sold in Germany is currently organic. That is not very much. Other countries have higher rates, but I think this will rise steadily. The demand for organic products in Germany is higher than the available number of products already, so a lot of things have to be imported from other countrys. Only 9 % of our farms produce organic food, so there are not enough regional organic products to get us fed organically. Organic production means more work for the farmers, but their payment is better on the other hand. Prices for conventional milk are so low here currently that no farmer can live from that money. With organic milk things are going better.

With a big pot of veggies you deserve to have a nice time in your

deck

chair. As far as measuring blood pressure is concerned I must admit that Im a bit too impatient to make it really, really reliable. To do that you have to sit down quietly for several minutes befor you let your sphygmomanometer do its work. This would cost me several minutes of my lifetime twice a day. Im not really willing to invest so much. That would easily sum up to hours during one year. I constantly monitor my blood pressure already for about 10 years... Doing it my way I have to live with certain inaccuracys of my noted values. But even when I go to a doctor to get my blood pressure measured by him (which I do at least once a year) he doesnt have (or take) the time to let me sit around for several minutes before he starts. We live in an imperfect world ;-)

Thanks for your peck, but dont give it to my

neck

because Im too ticklish there.

I have two sphygmomanometers, one at work and one at home so that I dont have to carry them around all the time. I measure my blood pressure twice a day (morning and evening) and note every value in a little notebook (an analogue one, I dont have a digital notebook). Ive learned that pills to stabilise the blood pressure must be taken regularly (daily), otherwise they will lose their effect. I get angry sometimes, too, but I have no idea if that corresponds with high blood pressure.

The one thing we buy most regularly at ALDI ist Mimis favourite cat food, which is quite cheap there luckily.

Bread, especially freshly baked one, still warm from the oven, is always a heart-warming pleasure. At one indian restaurant we got a freshly baked naan bread which was filled with fresh cilantro. I remember that very fondly. Very spicy, a real pleasure.

When you are shopping hungry you will end up having a hungry purse, too. That should not become a hobby of yours.
