Sounds good. There are so many tasty seductions around. I like peanut butter cups very much. If you put me in a

room

full of them there wouldnt be much left after a short while. But I might get problems to fit through the door because of the calories hidden in them.

Tell you what, I dont drink coffee only. Tea is also on my daily menu to remind me to drink more during the day here in my office. The main tea variations for me here are English Breakfast Tea and Ginger tea (which might help a tiny little bit for migraine prevention).

Cinnamon is one of my favourite spices, I even frequently spice up my coffee with it.
Dez, when you wait until the bratwurst looks grim it will get cold. That is not so good for its taste.

Bratwurst with curry powder and ketchup and cut into tiny pieces is a very common fast food here in Germany. We eat the organic version only from happy pigs. So the currywurst always grins at you before you eat it. You can have it with or without gut coverage, I prefer it without.

Dez, I suppose you celebrate the tea only to get access to those scones with clotted cream or those sandwhiches served with it? Nice little calorie

Who could forget that evil laff? I shortly walked by a car with a sign that began with L-AF... and even that made me think about Lynnes LAFF culture.

6.000 and more images in one folder are a

fair

argument for splitting up. My folder currently contains 3.700+ fotos and even there the searches are getting a little bit slower. An additional alphabetical listt of the titles has one disatvantage - it wouldnt be created automatically, so I might forget to keep it updated...

I cant think of more culture, I have no petri dishes at hand. But I would warn everyone to look too closely into the dust on my desk here, because nobody cares to clean that. One day it will begin to live. Artificial dust intelligence. Im not quite sure how cultured those dust creatures will behave then.

I consider places like RGB as my photo backup place because all of the best photos can be found there.

All the photos I have ever published online are in one folder of my harddisk. This is quite large, but it helps me to think of unique file names for the photos.

Money talks, and if you dont earn enough of it it still seems common practise to play with the personnel as if they were chess pieces. The result may be a great

void.

I recently read about automatic farming which needs no people anymore because farming machines do their work on GPS-base on their own already.

I often heard that the future lies in automation, so that nearly nobody would have to work anymore. Of course you dont have a chance to earn a wage then...

Oh, Dez, thats sad news, and they hurried even more than expected (your prediction was to get sacked by friday). But you never know what the outcome of this change in life will be. Perhaps it is a chance to change things to the positive side. The atmosphere at your workplace obviously wasnt too good anymore lately. Set your thoughts on a

diet

and dont worry too much. They at least dont deserve that. They will see that things get even worse when they lose you permanently.

I found it interesting that my favourite German migraine expert was able to tell that Richard Wagner had migraine, too, which can be found out when you analyse his music:

I was amazed recently to read about a conductor who has the habit to read music (the notes) before he ever hears it. He is obviously able to "imagine" the whole piece of music in his head already from the notes alone. What an interesting language this must be with such a different output across all the styles of music. I cant read notes anymore, it is far too long ago that I was learning about them at school. I

We are happy, the indian food on saturday was very tasty once again. Christa had tofu with well flavoured spinach and rice and loved it. My choice was chicken jalferezi, whick is chicken and vegs in a tomato sauce. I ordered it very hot of course and it was great. I would

take

that readily again on one of our next visits there. That restaurant is only two small train stations away from where we live.

We dont get chinese honey chicken over here, it must be a regional variation. Sounds interesting! I like chicken with vegs and garlic with a bbq sauce very much. It is offered here by quite a lot (but not all) of the chinese restaurants.

For us it is now also the time for stormy wheather, but so far nothing serious has happened.

You sound as if the new owners of your workplace deliberately sought for a reason to sack you. They dont seem to have an idea what they are losing. It is astonishing that you are not permitted so see that IME report. We have good rights here to access records and ask for copies of reports.

Oh, I wouldnt expect to be charged for tagink this medicine. It is strictly forbidden (and you would risk a penalty) to drive when you are taking such drugs. But I dont have a car and not even a driving license, so there is no danger on that front. I will eventually discuss this topic with my neurologist. Experts have begun a discussion to legalize the use ov sativex in Germany for more illnesses than only MS:

https://translate.google.de/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&u=https://www.deutsche-apotheker-zeitung.de/news/artikel/2015/02/05/indikation-fuer-sativex-ausweiten&edit-text=

I hope they will come to terms this year. Those discussions obviously take a lot of

time

The result should be that my private health insurance would take over the cost of this medication, so that I woulnt have to travel anywhere to get it. I have not traveled for several years now because I always expect migraine attacks then. It wouldnt be worth the effort to spend money on a vacation just to lay in a hotel bed for days and to feel terribly sick there. The last time when I tried to plan a vacation I was so excited that I got a migraine attack just from looking online for hotels in London. I then stopped any further attempt to travel. So of course my migraine heavily interferes with my life satisfaction. I can get no satisfaction, at least not much of it.

But there is always hope that things can improve again, so I will keep on trying what works best for me. The amitryptiline is quite promising so far, despite it being too early to really give a reliable estimation. But my last heavy attack with a lot of that vomiting was now already more than three weeks ago. That is good. During the last days I was able to recognise upcoming attacks in a very early stadium and that gave me the chance to successfully stop them before they could get any worse. If I can continue to do so that would be a great relief. Maybe the amitryptiline helps in this way. My previous prophylactic medicine obviously made it more difficult to recognise upcoming attacks early enough to stop them.

Hm. Old men like me obviously like to chat endlessly about their illnesses. Now the weekend is ahead of us, and if no migraine interferes Christa and I intend to go eating in an indian restaurant tomorrow. This is our favourite nationality as far as food is concerned, so we are looking forward to it. And I always fondly order my meals extra hot.

Yesterday Mimi managed to bring in another one of the shrews. She started to play around with it in our living room. Christa noticed that we had such a lovely tiny guest and joined in on hunting it through our living room. She could trap it kindly and bring it out well outside of Mimis reach. This time the mouse survived the adventure without any wounds, so we hope she will take the chance and tell about it to all the mice nearby so that they have more respect for Mimi and keep away from her reach. Mimi was not too upset that Christa took her new toy away, but she would have loved to play with it longer, of course.

I havent tried cannabis yet (several colleagues suggested already that I should do so). I wouldnt want to start smoking for that reason. There is a spray (sativex) available, which might work for me, but I must admit that I have some difficulties with the (artificially added) peppermint taste it has. My stomach reacts strongly on peppermint, I dont know why. And if it should smell like peppermint as well that would even increase my problems because Im also very smell sensitive during migraine attacks. But the main point is indeed the question of its legality. In Germany its use is licensed only when you have MS.

I also have no idea if I could get it prescribed when I declare it to be my new

diet

No, my eyesight is not effected at all. Because I generally have migraine without auras the migraine does not interfere with my eyesight. It only causes high pressure behind my left eye which I find to be somewhat disturbing. And of course I am generally very light sensitive during migraine attacks. The dry mouth is a very common side effect of amitryptiline, but it is not too strong at my current dosis.

During migraine attacks I also feel very sick in the stomach (it refuses to work then and I cant take in any more pills. That is the reason why I use suppositories in that stage.

The new suppositories
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metamizole
are used during acute attacks only, they have no preventative effect. One of their side effects (luckily rather rare) is that you may wakr up one day just to find out that you are dead. When you get an agranulocytosis as a side effect this has a mortality rate of 23%. But I dont intend to

The new pills
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amitriptyline
may take up to three months to fully do their work. Christmas is not that long ago, so I will still have to be a patient patient. I wont be covered with

dust

when I wait that long for things to improve. I also have new additional suppositorys again st the pain at hand when the next heavy attack knocks me out. But I cant really expect them to help against the endless vomiting. That can only be avoided when an attack is stopped right in the beginning before the sickness even starts. And that is not easy to achieve. When I take my medics too late at the start of a new attack (because the first signs of an attack are very slight and easy to overlook) the medics wont be able to stop the attack anymore. And it seems to be even worse when the last attack was a bit longer ago, because then the new one is possibly even more powerful and harder to keep under control.

I will try my best to improve things, but pain prevention is obviously easier than to prevent all that vomiting (because the migraine is so strong. Amitriptyline may be helpful here, but it is still too early if it works fo me or if I will have to increase my daily dosis.

Thank you for your very entertaining stories, Dez, you are a good storyteller. It feels as if I was part of what was happening because you describe it so vividly. Life is not always rosy-

hued

when you have to deal with doctors. I visited another neurologic department in one of our hospitals yesterday to tell them about my migraine and get their opinion on what I can possibly do to improve the situation. I had to wait for 1 1/2 hours despite of having an appointment. And then there was apparently not much that they could do for me. They assured me that Im in good hands already and what my neurologist does is state of the art. So I have to be patient and wait for me new medics (I take them since christmas) to do their job and show how good they are. I may eventually increase the dosis of those medics when they are not sufficient, we will see. I will probably also get a new MRT of my head made, the last one was made 6 years ago and showed nothing spectacular. The brain of a civil servant - what do you expect...

Dont expect too much when you visit those links. I cant remember if I played on SXC already. When I read our discussion here I get the impression that we must have also discussed in some parallel threads a little bit at the same time. But my memory is not the best.

I didnt consciously note it, but I always had the impression that there is a lot of truth in the words we exchange here, so that must be true. And it didnt hurt. We will see if we are able to

hunt

for new four-lettered words. As I wrote before there are over 400.000 of them in the english language, so we still have a variety of dust-free and unused ones to choose from.

What you write about Health care in Australia sounds good to me. Hospitals try to get rid of their patients after operations as fast as possible over here, too. But there seem to be a lot of operations which are not really necessary and doctors still urge you to get operated because the hospitals are payed well for their number of operations. They, and the use of a lot of machines for diagnosis are what brings in the money and makes hospitals economically successful.

It is good that the doctor did not discourage you, Dez. Surely it will take time to get better. 12 months are a long time, but when you are optimistic about it that will be very helpful. Things are always easier if you dont lose your faith. I hope you are not left alone by the doctors. They should accompany you well on your way back to better health.

When your sickness insurance works only until you are 65, who cares for your medical needs after that age? Over here most people are automatically health-insured life long when they get a pension. (In my case, of course, I will have to pay extra for that because I have that private health insurance).

Please keep us informed how things are going.

Mimi could see that Christa carried her precious toy straight to the wastebin and did not eat it. I think she was content with all the praise given by Christa. She certainly feels to be a

cool

cat now with such a success. Shrews have no chance to enter our house. The terrace door is always firmly shut and only shortly opened 1.000 times a day to let Mimi in or out. But all Mice should realise that it is better for them to make a wide bow around Mimis part of the terrace whenever she is around.

I think prices for houses are not related to the number of inhabitants of the citys. It is more a matter of the demand in relation to the number of objects currently available on the market. If many people want to move into a city because it is attractive to live there and/or they think they can easier find a job there nere the place where they live this screws the prizes higher and higher at a fast pace. You can make lots of money nowadays if you have to sell or to let a place to live.

When a place becomes too expensive we have to

fold

ourselfs together to move to a smaller place. (Christa, Mimi and I currently live in a flat with 60 m² + that 17 m² terrace).

On that terrace Mimi now managed to catch her first Mouse. That Mouse must have been stupid enough to run through the cat-web into the space where Mimi lives. Otherwise Mimi could not have cought her.. Mimi killed her effectively (poor thing that sweet Mouse with a lovely long nose, must have been a Shrew).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrew

Mimi carried it into our flat and proudly presented her victim as a gift to Christa. She was praised a lot, of course, but Christa felt sorry for the poor Mouse and soon got rid of her.

In Berlin 84% live in rented houses or flats. We are a "city of renters". This is not too unusual for German citys. Most of the inhabitants spend their money when they

shop

and dont save enough to afford to buy a place where they can live. Also the typical Berliner is quite mobile, he changes the place where he lives (here in Berlin) every few years.

Yes, Berlin is a very green city. There are more than 400.000 trees which grow along the sides of every street. And 18% of the area of Berlin is covered by forests. These foresty still are part of the city and many people walk there alone or with their dogs. Christa is also quite fond of our possibility to walk in the nearby Grunewald forest.

These photos dont look like being taken in one of the largest citys of Germany:
http://www.rgbstock.com/searchgallery/Ayla87/grunewald AND forest

No wonder people like to live here and more than 40.000 people move to Berlin every year. There are also lots of refugees from many countries of the world currently fleeing towards Germany. All together about 100.000 every year have to find a place where they can live here. This means that a lot of new houses have to be built, or current houses have to be built higer. And rents also rise higher and higher at a very fast pace.

show thread 4 Letter Words

show category Fun zone

Actually our own rent is higher (950 €), those 600 € are more like an average monthly rent for Berlin. The rent differs a lot because there are suburbs which are cheaper and those (where we live) which are more expensive. The major cities in Germany also have different rent levels. Berlin is not too expensive, but rents are currently rising quite fast. I think Munic is Germanys most expensive town. But most people who can afford to live there also have the higher income paid in that area.

Generally cheap rents here become more and more a thing of the

past
