Ed and Willem are behaving themselves and ...........
Willem has run in the wheel a little bit yesterday! I know, pictures or it didnt happen
but I was so happy when I saw him trying out the wheel that I didnt want to disturb him.
Last week I put out the wheel and gave them extra straw and carton rolls (even pizza boxes) and they where happy digging around. Then yesterday I decided to try the wheel once more and this time I hung the wheel; will show pictures sometime ;-)
Im getting to know their personalities Ed is much more curious and social, Willem is more shy but if I sit still he walks around and plays.
Ive noticed this week that Eds

has three different colors brown, sweet!

last Friday Willem escaped; but I caught him quickly, pfew
I was going to make some changes in the tank and decided to put the gerbils in their transport box http://www.gerbil.nl/webshop/gerbil-transportmandjes/115-aladino-medium.html
I put in Willem first and as I was holding Ed, I saw Willem moving outside and behind the box
these Houdinies only need 10 seconds!
Luckily I had put the box on top of a chair and Willem hesitated at the edge just long enough to capture him.

Have you ever tried to grow millet?
Birds (and gerbils) love eating that too.
I have made some changes to the gerbil tank.
Ive temporarily removed the running wheel and Ive put in a lot more straw en extra carton rolls. Ed loves digging around, you should see the bedding flying around haha. Luckily it stays in the tank. Maybe they
want
the running wheel when they have grown a bit.

Shhhht Willem and Ed are sleeping!
Theyve had an exciting day with an hourlong ride in a car and then a brand new home with all exciting smells! They played and ran and have been digging around for hours. They even drank and ate a little bit. And they love the coconuts :D
But they have not used the running wheel yet, they crawled under it and sniffed at it and when I made the wheel turn they looked surprised; but no running.
I have put three photos on my FB profile.
Willems pelt has a
lush
sheen, he is almost all black except for a white patch on his nose.
Ed has beautiful big eyes.
Sigh, love!

O it would be a shame if the deal fell through Dez, but Im glad youre not stressed (I would be severely stressed).
Michael I am getting a running wheel, the people who sell me Ed and Willem own a web-shop with lots of gerbil goodies including running wheels. I did sent them an email on Saturday but I havent gotten a reply yet. Today is a Dutch holiday; that may be the cause.

Last week I bought a lot of utilities: a small waterbottle, a nice wooden home where they can hide, a sturdy bowl for their food and a lovely toy: 2 coconuts connected by a hang bridge. Oscar and Alfred loved that and Im sure Ed and Willem will use it a lot too. No hand-me-downs no, new gerbils means new utilities.
Except for the glass tank of course that would be silly hmmm.
This week Im going to fill the tank with hemp and straw and place all the goodies.
