How to promote RGB

1. mzacha8 February 2010, 15:48 GMT +01:00

Well, the site has enough pictures to attract more user. Right now I think it is more uploaders here than downloaders and this should change.

Since couple of days I have a special signature on my sxc-mail, promoting this site, and every time I receive the e-mail about my photos, I just send it. I hope it help.

But it is not enough...

Wikipedia thought it was an ad. Well, it was! LOL Maybe further down the track?

Wikipedia is pretty strict about posting such things. We'll get one together that they will accept later this month if all goes well.

@ xymonau
frankly I think wikipedia is right about unambiguous self promotion. we can get one at wiki about rgb in a little while after we clock some numbers :) we already are adding images at a scorching pace for a start up :)

@ crisderaud
yeah, getting it exactly according to wiki rules will be good for us too. we dont need promotion, we just need a note about us at wiki. the collective work here is good enough for us. I'm delighted at the depth of images we already have! i was frankly skeptical about how the numbers would add up - the image bank is already pretty good (to be modest)!

the wiki on sxc.hu is fairly comprehensive. I wonder whether the rgbstock one submitted was similar in style?

Do we need standard buttons / banners which we can add to our own pages?
I've done a rough mockup to see what people feel. It's at

www.fishmonk.com/sheep

Any feedback? Thoughts?

ps Thanks to sundesigns for the canister image...

It looks very professional, Dan. I think it's something we need, but the site would need to create a "link to us" page, and I think they're still busy with sorting some major issues. Maybe we could all make some designs, and when the time comes to look at that, we'll have some to show. Maybe even a competition, but we're not that far yet. I know it's always best to have a variety of sizes and colours for all kinds of pages.

Cool concept Dan. my brother didn't make the connection about rgb colored "stock" until I pointed it out to him. I think it is quite clever and effective. Certainly eye catching.

nice one @ www.fishmonk.com/sheep

I haven't many places online to stick these but people could save as & use on their sites whenever - as long as its ok with admin. could we have a yes/no/wait or maybe?

Thanks Karunakar

While you're waiting for a definitive answer, click on the link on the bottom of the front page and look to the right of that page. You'll see what we exchanged with that site.

We are going to have a competition for link logos in the very near future.

Today I've sent an information about RGB Stock profile at Facebook to all my Facebook friends. And, I think, the number of fans has risen... Tadaaa! Do the same! ;)

39. Berenika13 April 2010, 9:54 GMT +02:00

Good idea, I think we should use facebook to promote rgb!
Maybe on the facebook also competitions should be pronounced, and some
discussion - for example - my favourite photo at rgb is ... should be also placed there!

Thank you Michal. Until now we have almost 100 visitors from fun-club.pl
So this link is quite good I think.
