WINS

I meant the "antelope jackrabbit" referred to in the Wikipedia article. Isn't that the mythical "jackalope"? I think someone is having a bit of a joke.

Love Boat? Wow - definitely Matt Damon and Sharukh Khan fighting over me. You may place your

bets

on who would win. (Actually, regardless of which one survived, I would win!)

could be a practical joke; Wikipedia is not 100% reliable.

Well, just got back from Melbourne. Hard to believe I was thousands of kilometres away just this afternoon. I've had all the air time I ever want. But I was so fortunate - I was always next to an empty seat. Given my size, that was a real blessing. And apart from a bit of turbulence coming out of Melbourne, the flights were really smooth and good. I'm mentally shattered, and I may get to digest everything over the next few days. I met a lot of nice people, and the great thing about this conference was that they all work for the same company.

I was relieved I didn't have to

stay

longer, though. It's nice to be home!

Now, I'd say it is always a good sign if you are really happy to come back home where you are the

Ah, well - it's all to pay the

or, in my case, the mortgage.

funny word mortgage>> mort=death and gage=gag
people with a mortgage are being strangled
and they put their own signature on the document! Weird...

I would not bother to buy, but I object to having a complete stranger wander through my house every three months and patronise me by telling me in tones of wonderment that my house is clean. All real estate agents here do that, and I think it's far too often and a breach of privacy.. If they know you keep the place nicely, surely they could then do it annually?

I will also be able to grow a garden and do what I want with the place once my hands are better.

But that's correct about the finance. It is crippling to try to own you own

nest.

8920. xymonau13 March 2014, 14:11 GMT +01:00

Autumn here, and it is only a little cooler, although the nights are nice. We need rain, but autumn and winter are supposed to be dry. It has been raining off and on for a week. It can stop once my tank is full.

I've taken a couple of days off work to try to limp my severe burnout through to Easter. Not sure I'll make it. The days are time in lieu for all the extra hours on the recent conference in Melbourne. It was so nice to sleep in this morning. Not sure, but I might go for a drive somewhere tomorrow just to get out of the four walls.

When it starts to warm up there, does it happen gradually, or does the weather change quickly? We usually get a distinct change right about now.

Normally it warms up gradually. But this year is something else. Last two weeks it was warm, about 15 to 19°C at midday and in the afternoon. But nights are still around zero. So you have to scrab some ice from the car in the morning and when you come back from work, you can sit outside with a t-shirt, no shoes or socks and enjoy some icecream.

Last year we had a lot of snow around these days which is more normal. But the weather frog says it gets colder again up from tomorrow, it will rain (the plants need it) and next week we'll have heavy storms again. We'll see.....

Spring can be fickle with warm days followed by snow and hail, not sure how this spring is going to be. Winter was warm, good news for the fuel-bill!

Gesine was first ;-)

8923. xymonau14 March 2014, 7:06 GMT +01:00

I feel sorry for the elderly, the poor and the homeless in cold countries - actually, any extremes of temperature, really. Fuel and power and cooling are all so expensive.

We get quite a bit of hail here in spring and summer. Just small, usually. It's funny that our hail comes in the warm seasons, but I guess those are our wet seasons, and that's why. The southern states get their rain in winter.

I don't think anyone watches it here. Well, they do, but I hate the show. I wouldn't have seen more than maybe three or four episodes and it's appalling. I have no idea why people in other countries like it - music and all.
