Somethnig funny going on?

1. micromoth22 April 2010, 13:13 GMT +02:00

Dear All,
It's still early days in the life of RGB Stock, so I've become accustomed to there being just a trickle of interest in downloading my shots each day. But today, suddenly, there have been more than 70 downloads of my shots! I'd like to think this is an indication of increasing awareness of the existence of the website, but I'm just a little suspicious that my gallery has attracted the attention of a ripper. Has anyone else experienced a sudden dramatic increase in downloads?

2. micromoth22 April 2010, 13:14 GMT +02:00

Oh bother, I misspelled "something", and for an editor that isn't funny!

3. Ayla8722 April 2010, 13:36 GMT +02:00

We have also a dramatic increase of DLs, and ist's mostly 1 - 2 DLs per photo. May be a ripper, but since we are quite generous when someone asks nicely about the use of our photos we can't be sure.

Michael

I had the dramatic increase couple days ago. Like 30 downloads a day. Now it is back to normal - 2 - 3 daily...

@3 You had given permission to Eden Meiman from Wix.com to use your photos through contact at sxc. She signed up here April 18 on your recommendation and downloaded the photos yesterday.

She said she had contacted several people through sxc and gotten permission to use the photos, but she only mentioned Ayla87 and Leoclub specifically. The Wix site is respectable and highly ranked and Eden is very nice, sincere and polite.

There was another notable downloader yesterday and we haven't heard from that person yet.

Overall, I would say, there is increased awareness and interest in this site. There are no indications of anything to be concerned about. There are flags and indicators built into the site that alert us of any suspicious activity and we will investigate them promptly.

Enjoy the activity and rest assured that your intellectual property is in a secure environment.

Thanks for the reassurance, Cris; I'm very confident of you guys.
I've not heard of Eden Meiman before, so the person taking such an interest in my shots must be your Notable Downloader yesterday. I wonder who it is?

Take note that Jay has made most of the important data available to all at :

Cris, yes, that is correct, we (too) have granted Eden Meiman to use our photos on wix.com when asked via contact at sxc, and of course we made it clear (as always) that much more and newer of our photos can be found over here at RGB :)

Well, somebody is downloading a lot od photos from Sundstroms gallery right now. Images of completely different themes, so it looks a little bit suspicious...

10. Zela25 April 2010, 15:30 GMT +02:00

I have noticed it too. The issue will be looked into asap.

11. crisderaud25 April 2010, 19:36 GMT +02:00

It's the same person. Eden Meiman.

I've asked Lars to check his contact records from sxc to find if he had given her prior permission also.

12. crisderaud25 April 2010, 20:16 GMT +02:00

Lars had given permission to Eden Meiman through contact at sxc. Everything is as it should be. :)

Phew,

Back to DEFCON 5 then...

Good call though Kevin!

14. mzacha26 April 2010, 11:00 GMT +02:00

Yep, Eden asked me about it today, too. Contact via SXC, but downloading from RGB :).

15. Abyla26 April 2010, 12:06 GMT +02:00

Hey Michal, he is doing a fantastic menu with your photos. :)

16. mzacha26 April 2010, 12:12 GMT +02:00

17. Abyla27 April 2010, 13:29 GMT +02:00

Hey guys,
There is another person asking for pictures to make a magazine. Her name is Rachel Thomas.

If you get a request from Rachael, please be so kind as to give her a prompt reply. You could have your photo published in a magazine too!

BTW: Eden is showcasing our site in the Wix blog post that is read by thousands of people. They need a 500 pixel square logo to use with the blog. We'll send Eden something now, but keep those logo ideas fresh as there are going to be more requests for our logo in the near future as we gain recognition on the internet.

19. micromoth28 April 2010, 13:38 GMT +02:00

@18 Is this the same Rachel Thomas who has a website at http://www.rachelthomasphotography.co.uk/ ?

20. crisderaud28 April 2010, 16:49 GMT +02:00

@19 Rachael is from South Africa http://www.rgbstock.com/user/rachelthomas

21. crisderaud28 April 2010, 16:56 GMT +02:00

Eden Meiman has just posted our site in a blog at Wix.com

http://blog.wix.com/2010/04/new-giants-on-our-media-center-welcome.html

She has provided a very good link for us with this blog post and we do appreciate her efforts making this happen.

btw: Eden's photo is there too so you have a couple of reasons to give them a visit.

Hmmm, interesting in the background. Fairies, gnomes and pictures of alcaholic beverages. The three go together well - drink enough of one and you see the others. I like the lady already.

23. mzacha29 April 2010, 9:41 GMT +02:00

Today is the day of barunpatro.

24. micromoth29 April 2010, 13:45 GMT +02:00

@21 Hey, this is great! Eden has done us a great favour with this link.

25. Abyla2 May 2010, 12:40 GMT +02:00
