Google Homepage Backgrounds

Google is installing a button in the lower left hand corner of their classic home page where you can load your own background.

Here I put in a recent photo of the International Space Station

This is another place our photos can be used as Google makes this option available around the world over the next two weeks.

I wonder if this might be worth mentioning on the RGB homepage as a "Did You Know" news item? We could even, perhaps, give links to a few of the best RGB stock images as suggested examples that individuals might like to try.

You have to be signed in to your Google account or it is not available. If you sign out of your Google account while your custom background is showing then the page reverts to the default automatically and the option is not available.

Cris... I notice you placed bookmark icons next to the Home icon, at the same level. May I ask you how you did it?

That is the Google Shortcuts add-on which is a really handy one. It's fully customizable too.

Now, it is gone altogether.

Google changed the look of its homepage yesterday. It put up background images to highlight its customization tools. Visitors unleashed a storm of complaints. Within hours, Google reversed the change. Users are now greeted with the standard white page. Wallpaper is a great way to personalize your computer

...but my Space Station image is still there!!!
